Over the years, a lot of great wrestlers have spent time in prison for committing crimes. The professional wrestling business is a tough industry to work in and requires a lot of hard work, time and thereas a lot of pressure. Sadly, they haven’t always been the squeaky clean stars that are seen on RAW or SmackDown each week.
WWE stars’ personal lives are not strictly clear-cut black and white. Many stars have struggled with substance addictions, for instance, and others have been involved in DUIs.
A quick Google search and you can find mugshots. for wrestlers like Ric Flair, Big Show, the Usos, Matt Hardy, Kurt Angle, just to name a lot. In any case, WWE has tried to help those with troubled pasts to make it big in their company so that they can redeem themselves and focus their energy on doing something positive. Charlotte is a former 12-time Women’s Champion in WWE and has become one of the biggest stars and role models in the current WWE Women’s Division. But, even the daughter of Ric Flair has had her run-ins with the law in the past.
Four years before she officially signed with the biggest wrestling promotion on the planet, following in her legendary father’s footsteps in the process, Flair was arrested for assaulting a police officer after a fight involving her, her then-boyfriend and her father.
She pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and was sentenced to 45 days in jail, which was suspended to supervised probation and a $200 fine.Flair joined WWE back in 2013 after her younger brother passed away and has since been pushing to live out his dream.
And fortunately, she has not been in trouble
Roman Reigns is the most surprising entry on our list. However, he is one of the WWE superstars once arrested. In 2010, Roman signed his contract with the WWE, Just weeks before that, he got arrested.
The eventual Universal Champion and Tribal Chief of SmackDown was detained for intoxication, affray, disorderly conduct, riot, and unlawful assembly in the Pensacola, Florida area. According to the report, the arrest was kept under wraps until 2013 when his mugshot was published online.
Upon being cuffed, Reigns was eventually let go on a $1,000 bond and was forced to pay $500 for each of his aforementioned offences.
Fortunately, it did not influence the rest
of his career. Much like Charlotte, Reigns has learned from his run-in with the law and has since allowed wrestling to become his focus.
Brock Lesnar is one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, But he doesnât have the cleanest record in the books. Like many athletes, has had a troubled past and as a result, he ran into the law several times.
In January 2001, Lesnar was arrested for possession of a large number of anabolic steroids. He was locked up and spent a few hours behind. bars The charges were dropped after it was discovered that the substances were legal growth hormone.
The Beast was later charged with several hunting infractions on a trip to Alaska. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined $1,725 and given a six-month hunting suspension.
Jimmy Uso has been a major focal point of SmackDown these last few weeks, thanks to the superb work he has been doing alongside Roman Reigns and his brother Jey Uso.
As noted recently, Jimmy was arrested on Monday night after being stopped by police who witnessed him run a red light, while doing 55 mph in a 35 mph zone. He later failed sobriety tests and was taken to jail overnight for misdemeanor DUI, speeding and running a red light.
As of the latest update, Jimmy was released after posting a bail of $500 as per the Escambia County court records.
WWE has not made a statement on Jimmyas arrest, but we will keep you updated. He is currently featured in the top SmackDown storyline with Roman Reigns, but thereas no word yet on how this will impact things.
This is not the first time Jimmy has found himself in trouble with the law. He was once also arrested for DUI in July 2019, though he was later found to be not guilty.
The last time he was arrested, WWE kept the pair off television for nearly half a year. Jeff Hardy is known for his dare-devil stunts and for the number of arrests heas had in his life. From being arrested on charges of being in possession of a variety of illegal drugs and drug trafficking in 2009, to arrests for driving while impaired in both 2018 and 2019.
Jeff Hardy has frequently found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons, but always seems to find a way to get back on track in the end.
While Hardy struggled, he eventually found his way to the straight and narrow again. For now, Hardy seems to be on the right path with a lovely family by his side.
R-Truth is another star who has found success in WWE and has seen wrestling help him to get away from a life that could have ended differently for him without it. Truth would help his father with a number of drug deals when he was younger.
He dropped out of school when he was just 16 and continued dealing drugs in order to help his music career financially. Truth was arrested four different times, spending small amounts of time in jail before eventually spending 13 months in jail.
He went to a half-way house after his release from prison, which is where he met Jackie Crockett, who looked to convince Truth to join the wrestling business. Truth, however, was more focused on his music career.
