Adam Page vs. CM Punk AEW World Championship match announced for Double or Nothing

It is OFFICIAL! AEW World Champion Adam Page vs. CM Punk for the AEW World Championship at AEW Double Or Nothing!

AEW announced on this evening’s Dynamite from Philadelphia that “Hangman” Adam Page will defend the world title against top challenger.

CM Punk, in a double or nothing pay-per-view on May 29, which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Punk did a promo on Dynamite: “Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve never been part of a locker room that’s filled with more talent than AEW.

Seven or eight months ago, before I came on screen for the first time in seven years, I asked myself a question and the question was: ‘Can I still do this?’ And now I can probably stand here in front of my fans.

in Philadelphia and I can say: ‘Oh yeah, I can still do this.'”

Punk’s official record in AEW is 16-1, making him the top-ranked wrestler in AEW’s weekly rankings.

Punk’s only loss was against Maxwell Jacob Friedman on the February 2 edition of Dynamite, but that was only because Wardlow had helped MJF at a time when Wardlow was still an MJF ally.

Punk got his win back when he defeated MJF at Revolution. Clearly, Punk earned this AEW World Title shot.

As for Page, he posted a message on Twitter on Wednesday, saying he was dealing with COVID so he couldn’t come to Dynamite this week: “Dynamite is on TBS tonight at 8 p.m.

but I’m not there Will stay because my face is full of covid snot, sorry. Please enjoy regardless.” We wish him well.

Due to Page’s absence, the Dynamite portion had to be rewritten according to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, who tweeted: “Tonight’s AEW Show Page was heavily rewritten due to COVID.”

It is not known what role Page would have played on Dynamite. Page was not advertised for a match this week.

CM Punk Has Been Red Hot After The 2022 Revolution

Following his victory in the Dog Collar Match at Revolution 2022 against MJF, CM Punk has gone ahead of the competition and has been undefeated for a month now.

The former WWE Champion defeated Dax Harwood, Max Castor and Penta Oscuro on Dynamite.

After those matches, he pointed at a title around his waist, possibly hinting at a world title shot.

Last week, Punk defeated Dustin Rhodes via Go To Sleep on Dynamite. After the match, he finally walked the ramp with the AEW World Champion.

Due to the in-ring expertise of both men, the championship showdown between Punk and Page could possibly go down as a five-star match.

It will be interesting to see how the preparations for this match pan out in the coming weeks.
