LSG vs KKR, IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants Beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 75 runs

LSG vs KKR, IPL 2022: Jason Holder (2.3-0-31-3) momentarily ended KKR’s tail in the 15th over, taking the remaining three wickets.

KKR were reduced to just 101 runs to lose the match by a huge margin of 75 runs. And with a big win, LSG reached the top of the points table.

They now have 16 points from 11 matches, on par with fellow newcomers Gujarat Titans, but LSG are on top courtesy an improved NRR.

KKR 101 all out in 14.3 overs: Holder to Narine. Outside! Back of a length delivery and Naren tries to swipe it on the inner-circle.

He dismisses Krunal at cover who completes a fine catch. Southee at 10. Two in two for the holder! Short again and Southee slams Avesh Khan straight over deep square leg.

One wicket away from finishing things off, can the holder cap with a hat-trick? Harshit is the last man after the field is closed for a hat-trick ball.

Is this a runout? Harshit made a double by pushing the ball down to the ground. A good throw from deep helps the holder hit the bails.

Outside! Everything is over in Pune as the dismissal has been confirmed in the replays. Lucknow beat Kolkata by 75 runs to top the points table!

KKR 99/7 in 14 overs: Bishnoi crosses one but Narine stumps it for a straight four. Narine tries for a slog-sweep and gives a top edge to Stoinis who rolls forward on point so he slips.

This time with a toe as Narine gets into the crease and sends the ball past the keeper for four.

Narine completed 1000 runs in IPL. He became the third player after DJ Bravo and Jadeja to complete the double of 1000 plus runs and 100 wickets.

KKR 88/7 in 13 overs: Avesh drops short and pays the price as Russell hits the ball over mid-wicket for a six.

Short ball again and Russell misses his hit this time. Holder runs to complete a brilliant catch from third-man and Kolkata are now in the pits.

Avesh runs to Anukul with a short delivery down the leg and Anukul seems to have driven it straight to the keeper.

The umpire raised his finger but Anukul opted to review. The replays suggest a spike as the ball passes the glove and is Avesh’s third wicket.

KKR 79/5 in 12 overs: Bishnoi to Rinku. Outside! Bishnoi sends in a flight delivery and Rinku tries to raise a slogan against Bari. Easiest catch for Kunal Cow-corner and KKR continues to fall. Naren on 7.

Bishnoi has another, almost! Narine hits it hard on the first ball and gives Holder a rough outside edge at first slip.

The ball falls an inch below their palms and Naren runs away. Little short and Naren does a slog sweep for the SIX.

Four more as Narayan crunches the ball at past cover as Bishnoi again tracks short.

KKR 69/4 in 11 overs: Chamira darts into a wide yorker and Russell fixes it for four down to third-man.

To remain in the hunt, KKR will have to gear up and find the fence more often.

KKR 64/4 in 10 overs: Bishnoi bowls one and Russell hits a six! Bishnoi consolidated his line and the batsmen exchanged a couple of singles.

KKR 55/4 in 9 overs: Holder feeds one of the slots and Russell smokes it for a six at wide long-on.

Short ball and Russell flats it to deep point. Another six from the hands of Ravi Bishnoi! Another goes. Russell hits each other straight behind for a six.

Russell continues to stay on thin ice as he gets another four through third-man.

KKR 30/4 in 8 overs: Mohsin hits another bouncer. Russell awkwardly swats and the ball flies over the keeper for four.

Streaky and replays show that Russell had no control over that shot.

KKR 25/4 in 7 overs: Cleaned it! Avesh persists with his aggressive length and here is where Rana gets out completely.

He chases down a sharp in-dipper with multiple bouncers that sits at the root of the wickets as Rana swings to his right.

KKR 25/3 in 6 overs, Holder to Finch. Outside! Excellent from Holder as he follows Finch with a quick delivery.

Finch cleans himself up to make room but a rising delivery pushes him to launch an upper-cut that falls straight into de Kock’s glove. KKR are in trouble as soon as the powerplay is over.

KKR 21/2 in 5 overs: Badoni almost completely blindsided in the outfield. Avesh forces Finch to pull it over mid-wicket, but fails to get the desired timing on it.

Badoni runs backwards from the inner-circle and puts his fingers on the ball with a full length dive. Top effort from the youth. Wide on offer and Finch hits a four over mid-off to Avesh.

KKR 11/2 in 4 overs: Chameera strikes the stumps and Finch crosses it for a single. to shoot! Chameera crams Iyer with a short length and yet the KKR skipper shifts his weight onto the backfoot and punches the ball through cover for four.

Oh friend. Iyer goes all agriculture in an instant as he sweeps his front leg for a rash and misses it completely. Outside! Iyer has blown away at high speed.

A furious bouncer angles it straight over the head and Iyer tries to get out, but pokes the ball straight to Badoni square.

What a start for LSG as both the fast bowlers have fired shots from both sides. Rana at 4 pm.

KKR 6/1 in 3 overs: Full pearl from Mohsin. Shreyas gets stuck in two minds as the ball goes off the deck by a possible final second. beaten again.

Mohsin straightens his line and crosses Iyer’s blade and upstairs. A single to follow and Mohsin on top in the second over.

Finch got out after scoring two runs. Chamira quickens Finch with another oncoming delivery that hits it high on the pads.

KKR 4/1 in 2 overs: Chameera picks up steam to send a swift delivery behind Finch’s thick blade.

KKR 0/1 in 1 over: Mohsin starts off with some deliveries that go from Indrajit to the keeper. Mohsin sharpens one’s tail to hit Indrajit on the pads beautifully.

Mohsin hits a boundary outside off-stump. He pulls the batsman forward and prompts him to push five points. In the air and gone! Indrajit is scored from a sharp bouncer and the ball flies straight overhead.

Badoni completed a fine diving catch to give LSG the right start in the second innings. Wicket Maiden for Mohsin!

LSG 176/7 in 20 overs: Badoni aims to pull one off from his hips but misses it for a single down to backward square. In the air and the holder gets to the square leg fielder. Top stuff from Southee as he dodges Holder with a slow ball. Only three runs are left in this over with two balls to spare. Chimera at 8 o’clock. Swing and miss but Badoni pushes Chamira for a single and gets it. Southee ends up with a wide bouncer and Badoni fails to connect. The batsmen aim to deceive with a single but undefeated hits the wood from behind the wicket.

LSG 172/5 in 19 overs: Mavi hits a roll and Stoinis swings the ball over the square for a six. Low full-toss and Stoinis, deep in his crease, hits the ball for a six over mid-wicket.

Three in a row! Mavi is everywhere as he dishes in another short ball in which Stoinis hits it over mid-wicket for another six. Walked away and Stoinis found Iyer in the deep.

A cross-seamer in the slot and Stoinis put in all his might to put up another maximum. He fails to get the desired timing and Mavi gets some relief. Jason Holder at 7. Do that 30 for the over! Holder punishes a fuller delivery with a powerful slog at long-off to SIX to end the over.

Marcus Stoinisc Iyer b Shivam Mavi 28 (14b 1×4 3×6)

LSG 142/4 in 18 overs: Russell deftly messes with the pace as Stoinis and Badoni resort to gaps for another two. Nine runs from the over.

LSG 133/4 in 17 overs: Mavi attacks the stumps and changes his pace. Stoinis attempts to slap a slow-bouncer to mid-off, but gets a top-edge at short-third for four. Mavi completes a good over with the help of another slow bouncer.

LSG 126/4 in 16 overs: Narine takes steam through a brilliant over as it brings up just three runs.

The tackle surface does not allow batsmen to score freely as the innings progresses.

LSG 123/4 in 15 overs: Russell strikes once again. He shorts the ball and Krunal cuts an upper-cut straight to Finch at deep point.

A dull knock comes to an end as Lucknow fails to change gears. Stoinis on 6. He is off the mark with one.

LSG 116/3 in 14 overs: Southee troubles Badoni and Krunal along a tight line with a long delivery. Southee sprays a full length over and Kunal crunches it at cover for four.

LSG 110/3 in 13 overs: Russell to Hooda. Outside! Hooda pulls the bridge incorrectly and the ball goes straight to Shreyas Iyer in the deep.

Russell fires a sharp bumper but Hooda gets his timing wrong as the ball settles on the pitch for a moment. Big wicket for KKR as Hooda threatens to open fire.

LSG 104/2 in 12 overs: Kunal is battling with a ball that is straight to strike the stumps. Naren fired twice from his gate. Three dots on the trot and Krunal ends the over with a single.

LSG 100/2 in 11 overs: Anukul continues to leg down the left-hander. De Kock gets an easy single.

Anukul swings the ball inside and Hooda dances down to smoke the ball over long-on for a six! The surface continues to expose its sticky self.

Anukul gets the ball to stop on the deck as Hooda tries to flick. The ball jumps off the leading edge to cover for a single.

LSG 90/2 in 10 overs: Harshit pushes one across the line and Kunal slashes it hard. The ball clips the thick edge and beats Russell for four over the fine leg fence.

Harshit continues to err with a short drop and this time Hooda smashes the ball at past point for four. Single to follow. Harshit bowls a short and Krunal cuts the ball over third-man and Russell has the entire ball.

LSG 79/29 in overs: Mavi finds his radar. As the batsman resorts to a single, he fires his delivery from the deck into a nagging line.

LSG 76/2 in 8 overs: More gone in the air! De Kock punches a hole for long off as he tries to control Narayan. Narine caught the ball on the deck as de Kock came back to the crease and took the ball to Mavi on the back-foot.

He falls soon after completing his half-century. Krunal Pandya at 4. Krunal goes off the mark with a quick single at mid-on.

LSG had the potential for risky runs throughout the evening. Hooda survived another close call as he dived to make the crease for two runs.

Quinton de Kock c Shivam Mavi b Narine 50 (29b 4×4 3×6)

LSG 73/1 in 7 overs: Roy maintains a flatter trajectory and de Kock works the gap twice to find two runs. One single to follow.

Lucky relief for Hooda. He walks out for a slogan at mid-wicket, but gets the lead over the point fielder. A single to de Kock and he brings up a well composed fifty.

LSG 66/1 in 6 overs: Harshit fires one to the pads and de Kock easily works it through mid-wicket for four. The batsmen are picking up the gap quite easily at the moment.

Harshit drops a short and de Kock hits it over mid-wicket for a six! Delightfully short of joy as he once again fell into de Kock’s swinging arch.

With Lucknow completing a fruitful powerplay, he pays the price by conceding another six.

LSG 49/1 in 5 overs: Roy slides a down leg and de Kock sweeps it to square leg for four. One single to follow. Anukul bowls a wide and Hooda recklessly lofts the ball over extra cover and another four.

LSG 37/14 in over: Brilliant! Hooda quickly hits a big six to slam Narine at long-on. De Kock and Hooda keep themselves busy in several singles.

LSG 29/1 in 3 overs: A short by Southee and de Kock takes another four at mid-wicket. LSG is not allowing KKR to settle down with this counter-punch after KL is dismissed.

Huge! The QDK is in its element with a great pull from the hips for a graceful ‘SIX’ over square-leg. Sound off the bat, just brilliant. Southee comes around the wicket. Another looser on the off stump and de Kock sweeps it through cover for another four. 17 runs from the over as de Kock kept strike with a single.

LSG 12/1 in 2 overs: Mavi sets fire to the blockhole to start against newcomer Deepak Hooda. Mavi touches a little Fuller from outside and Hooda crashes it through cover for a four.

Magnificent! Hooda starts another fiery drive at cover for four. Mavi once again made a mistake by tossing the ball into the slot.

Three point as Southee apply a tight line to start. Short and de Kock took the bottom over mid-wicket for two runs. Mix-up, and is it a runout? Southee brings one again and de Kock pushes it to cover and is set for a single but sends his captain back down the middle.

Iyer throws a nice pick-up at the non-striker’s end and it looks like Rahul is short of his crease. Outside! Replays confirm that Rahul is way off the line and has to leave without facing the ball. KL Rahulrun out (Iyer) 0 (0b)
