WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin’s return to the ring has not yet been officially confirmed. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, a dream match is expected between the Hall of Famer and Kevin Owens. Recently there were reports that WWE has asked Austin to return at WrestleMania 38.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer reveals what happened behind the scenes on WWE Raw
“At the moment a lot of tickets are yet to be sold and I think the expectation of the match is very high,” he said. That’s why Owens started doing promos. I had heard about it at the beginning of the day and most people had heard the same thing when I started looking for it.
Let us tell you that Stone Cold left the ring after suffering a throat and knee injury after a loss against The Rock at WWE WrestleMania 19 in 2003. In his podcast in 2019, he revealed that he is physically fit to return for a match.
He said, “Definitely physically fit to take part in a match and I can come out of that match without getting injured.” Considering the number of surgeries I have gone through, it will always be risky for me to participate in a match.
